The Nokia 3310 gets updated with 4G LTE

First, there was the Nokia 3310 (2017) then came the 3G version. For 2018, Nokia has just released a 3310 that supports 4G LTE plus a couple of modern features thrown in.

While it looks the same as the refreshed 3310 for 2017, HMD Global has given the throwback device with several welcomed upgrades. It now runs YunOS but the interface looks the same as its current S30+. There are no details on the type of apps it will support but the product page did mention pre-loaded apps that can provide you with music, books and audiobooks.

Instead of just 16MB of internal storage in the original 2G version, storage is now bumped up to 512MB and you can expand it further via microSD up to 64GB. The rest of the phone remains unchanged and it still gets FM Radio, a 2MP main camera and a 2.4″ screen that does a low 320×240 resolution.

Connectivity wise, it supports 3G in TD-SCDMA B34/39 as well as 4G TD-LTE in B38/41,39,40. For clearer conversations, it has VoLTE which provides HD quality voice calls. To keep up with the times, the device also comes with Bluetooth 4.0 and 802.11b/g/n WiFi support. On top of that, the Nokia 3310 4G even lets you turn the device into a WiFi hotspot.

Powering the 4G version is a similar capacity 1,200mAh battery. It can last up to 12 days on 4G with a rated talk time of 5 hours via VoLTE. Pricing isn’t confirmed yet but it is said to be released in early February at China Mobile stores. Word has it that the Nokia 3310 4G will have its global debut at the upcoming MWC 2018.
