OnePlus 5T might get a Sandstone edition

Remember the Sandstone Black variant that comes with a sandpaper-like texture on the OnePlus One and OnePlus 2? According to OnePlus’ latest video, it appears that the “Flagship killer” smartphone maker might be bringing that back on its latest OnePlus 5T.

In their teaser video, they have gotten some people to feel the phone in a mystery box. Most of them remarked that it feels good with a grippy texture. Interestingly, some of them said that it feels like brushed metal with a slight feeling of sand. In a way, it eliminates the possibility of just another add-on case.

The original Sandstone Black on the original OnePlus and OnePlus 2 was based on a plastic back cover. For 2018, it seems that OnePlus might have managed to apply the same Sandstone treatment onto the OnePlus 5T’s metal back.

The special variant will be revealed this month and we are curious to know if it will be released globally. About a month ago, OnePlus had introduced a special red edition of the 5T for China and a Star Wars edition for the Indian market.

The standard OnePlus 5T is now available in Malaysia through distributor Brightstar Malaysia. The base 6GB RAM + 64GB storage version is priced at RM2,449 while the higher spec 8GB RAM + 128GB storage is going for RM2,749.
