The honor V10 is a cheaper alternative to the Huawei Mate 10 series

The honor V10 has finally been announced and seems to be a mish-mash between the Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro but still manages to be much cheaper.

The new phone sports a 5.99″ (18:9) screen with 1080×2160 resolution but it’s an LCD as opposed to an AMOLED like its Mate 10 cousin. However, it does have a fingerprint sensor out front, as well as a Kirin 970 chipset that comes with a dedicated NPU. The honor V10 comes with either 4GB or 6GB RAM and has up to 128GB storage.

The device also gets a 3.5mm audio jack and a dual camera out the back with a 16MP colour and 20MP B&W sensors. For the selfie shooter, you get a 13MP front camera with f/2.0 aperture. However, unlike the Huawei Mate 10 series, you don’t get OIS and the lens on the V10 are f/1.8 instead of f/1.6. There’s no Leica branding on the camera but it does come with AI assistance for better object recognition.

Powering everything is a relatively large 3,750mAh battery with 5V/4.5A fast charge. Out of the box, it runs on EMUI 8.0 which is based on Android 8.0.

As for the price, the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage model goes for CNY 2,700 (about RM 1,679) and the top spec model with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage goes for CNY 3,499 (about RM 2,176) which puts it cheaper than the Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro, which starts at CNY 3,900 (about RM 2,425) and CNY 4,900 (about RM 3,047) respectively in China.
