While Apple has its new Series 3 Watch, Samsung would like to remind you that they have a swim-proof smartwatch of their own. Ahead of its commercial availability, Samsung has released its first Gear Sport video to highlight some of its key fitness features.
The Gear Sport was first announced during IFA 2017 alongside its new Gear Fit2Pro fitness band. It has a circular 1.2″ 360×360 Super AMOLED display with Gorilla Glass 3 and it comes in either Black or Blue. If you wish to change the strap, it accepts any 20mm watch band.
Unlike its regular Gear smartwatches, the Gear Sport has 5 ATM water resistance which allows you to swim with it up to 50 metres deep. It also comes with a Speedo On training app which lets you track your swimming performance in the pool.
You still get your usual real-time heart rate monitor, built-in GPS, 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, gyro sensor and barometer. On top of that, it also supports Samsung Pay along with Spotify Offline playback. You can learn more in our Gear Sport announcement post.
The Gear Sport is expected to be released at the end of October starting in Europe with a price tag of €349.99 (about RM1,745).
