The Galaxy J7+ is Samsung’s second dual-camera smartphone with Live Focus

While much of the hype surrounding Samsung this week is about their new flagship Galaxy Note8, a lot of the conversation is also centered around how expensive it is. Well, if the sole reason you want to get a Note8 is for Samsung’s fancy new dual camera feature, Live Focus, you may have a budget option to choose from.

This is the Samsung Galaxy J7+ 2017.

Samsung’s J series of smartphones aren’t anywhere near their high end. It’s the company’s entry-level lineup so don’t expect specs that will blow you away. That said, the J7 is the most capable of the J smartphones so things shouldn’t be too bad.

Also worth noting is that this device hasn’t actually been officially launched yet, this is just a leak from Thailand that gives us a look at the kind of specs you can expect on this upcoming smartphone.

Samsung’s Galaxy J7+ will come with a 5.5-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display in front with an octa-core 2.39GHz processor running on the inside. What the processor model actually is, wasn’t revealed. What we do know is that it will come with a generous 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage that you can further expand with a microSD card. What’s more, it’s got a 3,000 mAh battery to keep everything powered. It will also come running Android 7.1.1 Nougat.

Moving on its camera, the J7+ will feature a dual camera setup. One is a 13MP main shooter with a mighty fast f/1.7 aperture lens while the second is a 5-megapixel sensor with an f/1.9 aperture lens. Unfortunately, we don’t know if it’s a telephoto lens or not, though the site materials don’t seem to suggest that. Still, you will get access to Samsung’s Live Focus portrait mode bokeh feature which made its debut on the Note8. If selfies are more your thing, the J7+ also has a 16-megapixel selfie camera that sports an f/1.9 aperture lens.

Besides the all-metal body, the J7+ will also support Dual SIM connectivity (though with a hybrid SIM tray so you’ll have to pick between second SIM or microSD card). For security, the smartphone will sport a fingerprint scanner in front and facial recognition capabilities. The source site also says that it will have Bixby support and GSMArena claims that there will be a dedicated button on the left, though there is no indication of such a button in the images.

In any case, Samsung will apparently reveal this smartphone in Thailand soon — and it will come in Black, Gold and Pink — so stay tuned for more details at the official launch.
