Here are some of the new features of the LG V30

LG is launching its new V30 smartphone which would go head to head with the Galaxy Note8. To offer users an improved experience, LG has officially shared its new features that comes with its new UX 6.0+ UI.

The LG V10 and V20 both came with a secondary ticker display which is used for notifications, shortcuts and media controls. Since the new V30 is getting an 18:9 Full Vision display, the new interface will substitute the second screen with a floating bar as pictured above. It looks like Samsung’s App Edge but it displays your shortcuts horizontally rather than vertically.

To guide users to take professional quality shots, the camera UI will include Graphy. This lets you choose from a portfolio of professional shots that you want to achieve and it will then apply the same setup including white balance, shutter speed, aperture and ISO. This feature can be found in the camera’s manual mode. In case you missed it, the LG V30 is said to be the world’s first smartphone to feature a F/1.6 lens which offers better low light performance.

The always on display on the LG V30 is improved further with greater customisation. You can now display quick tools, music player or a custom photo when the phone is in sleep mode. The new UX 6.0+ also brings a new face unlock feature which can unlock your phone instantly without pressing any buttons. The facial recognition uses the front camera and we can assume it will be triggered when the phone is lifted to face level.

On top of that, they are also introducing a new Voice Recognition to unlock. Using a combination of your own voice and self-generated keywords of three to five syllables, this allows you to unlock your phone hands-free. According to LG, this utilises Qualcomm’s Aqstic voice UI technology which is constantly listening for your command while using very little power.

The LG V30 will be launched in Berlin on 31 August 2017.
