Samsung Galaxy J5 Pro Malaysia

The budget Galaxy J series is Samsung’s most popular smartphone line up and they have just announced a new model with the Galaxy J5 Pro. Unlike the previous Galaxy J series, the new model for 2017 looks more premium with a metal unibody design and has U-shaped antenna bands at the rear.

The J5 Pro for 2017 appears to be a better spec version of the new Galaxy J5 (2017) with more RAM and storage. In front, it gets a 5.2″ HD 720p display that uses 2.5D glass on top for a more refined look. It runs on a 14nm Octa-Core Exynos 7870 processor that’s mated to 3GB of RAM and it has 32GB of internal storage that’s expandable via microSD.

For taking pictures, it gets a 13MP f/1.7 main camera at the rear while the front comes with a 13MP selfie shooter with its own LED flashlight. It also comes with a fingerprint sensor on the home button and a non-removable 3,000mAh battery.

Out of the box, it runs on Android 7.0 Nougat with Samsung’s latest UI that’s similar to the Galaxy S8. Another interesting feature is its dual app capability which lets you install two separate messenger apps at the same time.

The Galaxy J5 Pro is now available in Malaysia at RM1,149. Retailer DirectD is offering the device in Black, Pink, Gold and Blue colours. For the price, it is quite high considering the Galaxy J7 Prime has similar specs but comes with a higher resolution 5.5″ Full HD display and a larger 3,300mAh battery at RM1,199.

Apart from the Galaxy J5 Pro, it seems that Samsung will be releasing two more J Pro smartphones next. The Galaxy J3 Pro is expected to be priced at RM699 while the Galaxy J7 Pro could go for RM1,299.
