You can pre-order the OnePlus 5 in Malaysia today

UPDATE: OnePlus 5 units with official Brightstar Malaysia warranty are coming soon.

Just one day after the OnePlus 5 was launched internationally, you can already place your pre-orders for this brand new flagship device here in Malaysia. It will cost you a pretty penny, though.

Grey importers DirectD and Satu Gadget have launched pre-order sales for the OnePlus 5. On DirectD, both variants are available. The Midnight Black version with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage is priced at RM2,988 while the Slate Gray variant with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage is priced at RM2,588.

UPDATE: A cheaper alternative is also available as DirectD is now offering China import sets which are priced at RM2,388 (6GB RAM + 64GB Storage) and RM2,788 (8GB RAM + 128GB storage). Looking at the spec sheet, the Chinese model has identical 4G LTE and TD-SCDMA bands as the international version.

Over at Satu Gadget, you will have to pay a little more as the Midnight Black version will be priced at RM2,999 while the Slate Gray version is priced at RM2,599. Keep in mind that these are imported sets and will only come with a 1-year in-house warranty from the grey importer themselves. Delivery is estimated to be between 7 to 14 days.

To refresh your memory, the OnePlus 5 is a smorgasbord of high-end specs including a Snapdragon 835 processor clocked at 2.45GHz, 6GB or 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 64GB or 128GB of UFS 2.1 2-lane internal storage.

It’s also got a 5.5-inch Full HD Optic AMOLED display in front, a 3.300 mAh battery keeping the lights on, Dash Charge fast-charging, NFC and Bluetooth 5.0.

OnePlus has also upped the ante with the 5’s camera as it features a new dual-camera setup at the back plus a 16-megapixel selfie shooter. The primary camera is comprised of a 16-megapixel Sony IMX398 f/1.7 aperture wide-angle lens and a 20-megapixel f/2.6 aperture telephoto lens.

This allows the device to take shallow depth of field shots, provide some level of lossless zoom and a whole bunch of other features including a comprehensive Pro Mode and RAW capture capabilities through the new camera software.
