vivo Malaysia has just updated its “Perfect Selfie” smartphone lineup with its new vivo V5s. Like the original vivo V5, it carries the same 20MP front camera and even the overall dimensions remain unchanged.
The only noticeable difference is the onboard storage which is now upgraded from 32GB to 64GB. If you need more storage, you can expand it further via microSD through its hybrid dual-SIM slot.
The rest of the phone is pretty much a vivo V5. It has a 5.5″ HD 720p IPS display and it runs on the same MediaTek MT6750 Octa-Core processor that is mated to 4GB of RAM. In terms of design, it still has a unibody metal exterior but it now features a very familiar U-shaped antenna lines like the V5 Plus.
At the rear, you still get a 13MP f/2.2 main camera with PDAF while the front gets a 20MP f/2.0 shooter (Sony IMX376) that comes with an updated Selfie Softlight and Face Beauty 6.0 enhancement. The vivo V5s has a new group selfie mode which supports panoramic landscape panning for a wide angle shot. The rear camera is also capable of producing 52MP Ultra HD photos by taking multiple frames in a short sequence.
The V5s also comes with a front-mounted fingerprint sensor on the home button and it has a AK4376 Hi-Fi chip for a better audio experience. Powering the device is a 3,000mAh battery and out of the box, it runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with vivo’s FunTouch OS 3.0 skin on top.
The vivo V5s is officially priced at RM1,299 in Malaysia which is the same price as its predecessor. It comes in 3 colours – Matte Black, Gold and Rose Gold. Pre-orders start today on 3 May 2017 and it will be on sale throughout Malaysia beginning 10 May 2017.
