Samsung Galaxy S8 Malaysia Pre-order: Here’s all you need to know

Malaysians can start pre-ordering their Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ beginning tomorrow, 10AM on 11 April until 13 April 2017. With its 3-day pre-order promotion, Samsung Malaysia is offering over RM900 worth of goodies which includes free accessories and extended warranty. If you’re interested in securing your Galaxy S8, here’s all you need to know.

Price and Specs

The Samsung Galaxy S8 is officially priced at RM3,299 while the larger Galaxy S8+ is going for RM3,699. The Galaxy S8 gets a 5.8″ Quad HD curved display with a 3,000mAh battery, while the larger Galaxy S8+ gets a 6.2″ Quad HD curved display with a bigger 3,500mAh battery. Apart from the display and battery size, both are identical on the inside.

In terms of processor, we are likely to get Samsung’s latest 10nm Exynos 8895 processor that’s mated to 4GB of RAM. Samsung also makes a 10nm Snapdragon 835 variant but that’s only available for other selected markets. On-board, you’ll get 64GB of storage which can be expanded via microSD up to 256GB. Similar to its current flagships, the Galaxy S8/S8+ supports dual-SIM in nano-SIM sizes but it uses a hybrid tray slot for microSD expansion. This means you would need to choose between using dual SIMs or a single SIM + microSD card.

Camera wise, the Galaxy S8/S8+ now gets an 8MP f/1.7 front shooter that’s assisted with auto focus. Meanwhile, the rear retains a 12MP f/1.7 dual-pixel camera with Optical Image Stabilisation. Out of the box, it runs on Android 7.0 and it charges quickly via USB Type-C or wirelessly using both PMA and WPC standards. The wired adaptive fast charging brick is similar as before with a maximum output of 9V 1.67A. You can read our first impression of the Galaxy S8 here.

In terms of colours, both the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ will be available in Midnight Black, Maple Gold and Orchid Gray.
