OPPO to showcase its 5X camera photography technology at MWC 2017

OPPO will be having a press event at the upcoming MWC 2017 in Barcelona. Instead of a brand new smartphone, OPPO will be introducing a new camera technology that promises to capture highly detailed images with their “5x” Project.

Sky Li, the VP and MD of International Mobile Business said that “OPPO’s relentless pursuit of perfection without compromise has given birth to a remarkable technological breakthrough that will change how the world perceives smartphone photography.” Without providing any details, the 5X project is said to be a result of their extensive year-long R&D process.

Could 5X mean 5X optical zoom? Or does it mean 5X the clarity? We’ll find more next week as we will be attending the event. During last year’s MWC, OPPO had announced their three-axis stabilisation SmartSensor and their faster SuperVOOC technology. Both features have yet to be introduced on their new smartphones.
