You’ll need good hearing to know the real ending of this short film

Hearing loss is a problem that affects a whole lot of people worldwide and the worst part is many often don’t know that they have hearing loss until it’s too late. Well, if you’ve ever been curious, hearing solutions company Cochlear has come up with a short film to help you find out.

This short film is supposed to have two endings. One’s happy while the other isn’t — and which ending you get depends on how much hearing loss you have.

It does this through several clever techniques that include intelligent framing to hide lip movements as well as high ambient noise to mask conversation. The two endings are separated further through the use of body language which, if watched without the dialogue, contribute to one of the short film’s ending. It’s worth noting that results may also vary depending on your headphones. For me, the dialogue was a lot easier to discern with my more neutral-sounding headphones than my bass-heavy ones.

“Does Love Last Forever” was done to raise awareness about hearing loss and how invisible it can be to many of us. If you’re curious, you can watch the full video on this website and the the quiz here.

So, did love last or was it lost? Let me know your score in the comments below.
