OPPO releases R9s Red Edition in time for Valentine’s Day

After introducing the OPPO R9s, the selfie-centric smartphone brand is now releasing a red colour variant in time for Valentine’s Day. This also coincides with the current Chinese New Year festivities where red symbolises good fortune and happiness.

The OPPO R9s in red will be available in Malaysia in time for Valentine’s Day. Apart from the colour, the new variant carries the same hardware on the inside. Over at the front, it gets a 5.5″ Full HD display protected by Gorilla Glass 5 and underneath it runs on a Snapdragon 625 processor with 4GB of RAM. On-board it gets an ample 64GB of storage which is expandable via microSD up to 128GB extra.

The main highlight is its rear camera where it gets a 16MP Sony IMX 398 sensor that’s assisted by a fast f/1.7 lens and dual PDAF technology for a quicker snap. It also gets a 16MP selfie shooter upfront with a host of beautification features. The R9s also gets a decently sized 3,010mAh battery that supports OPPO’s VOOC Flash Charging technology. The R9s comes in a metal unibody design and there’s a home button in front that doubles up as a quick fingerprint sensor.

There’s no word on the pricing for the R9s Valentine red edition and the standard Gold and Rose Gold versions are currently going for RM1,798.
