Sony Mobile will be making its usual showing at MWC 2017. Apparently, they have sent invites for the event that’s happening on 27th February at Barcelona. With Sony having just one proper flagship for 2016, we expect them to continue the same trend again for this year.
During the last MWC, Sony Mobile had launched its new X series which had replaced its traditional Z series. The Xperia XA and X were basically mid-range smartphones, while the X Performance had higher flagship internals but it lacked 4K video recording. Their real flagship to succeed the Xperia Z5 was the Xperia XZ which was revealed much later at IFA 2016.
We feel that it’s too early for Sony to launch another flagship model and they are likely to announce replacements for the current X series. These are rumoured to be powered by MediaTek’s P20 processors with up to 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage according to a listing by Antutu. In the camera department, it comes equipped with a 23MP main shooter and a 16MP selfie camera. One of it (G3112) is said to be having a HD 720p display while the other model (G3221) will get a full HD unit.
We’ll find out more next month and Sony will be streaming their MWC 2017 announcement live on their website.
