Got an Apple Watch? Now you can play Pokemon GO directly from your wrist (to some extent).
Developer Niantic Labs has finally added Apple Watch support which makes it easier to play without taking your iPhone out of your pocket. The Apple Watch app lets you receive notifications and you can spin PokeStops and view Pokemons around your area. On top of that, each Pokemon session is also recorded as a workout that contributes to your Apple Watch activity tracker. The app also lets you know if you’ve hatched an egg and when you’re given a medal.
While the Apple Watch app looks more sophisticated that the official Pokemon GO Plus wristband, unfortunately, you can’t catch any Pokemon from the Watch. It will tell you if there’s a Pokemon nearby and you’ll still need to launch the Pokemon app on your iPhone to catch them all. To get the Apple Watch app, you’ll need to update your Pokemon GO app to the latest version (1.21.2) that was released on 22 December 2016.
