Hear ye, hear ye! You can now subscribe to Amazon Prime Video right here in Malaysia and the best part is that it’s priced from as low as RM13.30/month! The Grand Tour, here we come!

To sign up for this service, you can do so here. Right now, Amazon Prime Video is having a promotion where you can pay USD2.99/month (around RM13.30) for the first six months of your subscription. After that, if you choose to continue with the subscription, you’ll be charged USD5.99/month (around RM26.60). New subscribers can also try the service out for free during your 7-day free trial.

There are no tier subscriptions like you’d find on Netflix so this service is more similar to our local iflix streaming platform instead. With this subscription you can stream on up to 3 different devices at the same time. You can also download videos to watch offline when you’re on the go.

As far as content goes, the platform isn’t as developed as Netflix or iflix so it doesn’t have as many shows or movies — at least from what we can tell. However, you will get access to Amazon Prime Video exclusives like The Man In The High Castle, Transparent and of course, The Grand Tour. Other non-exclusives that you can’t find on Netflix or iflix is the series, Preacher, which is based on the Vertigo Comics’ character of the same name.

You also have very limited casting options as you won’t be able to cast to Google’s Chromecast directly from the app (Android, iOS) or browser. Instead, you’ll have to cast the Chrome tab itself or your smartphone’s screen if you want to watch on the bigger screen that doesn’t support Amazon Prime Video natively.

Is it worth it? Well, that depends on what you want to watch. Since I’m a huge fan of The Grand Tour, I think paying about RM14/month for about four episodes of GT isn’t actually too bad. Of course, you could just pirate the show off the Internet, if that’s your type of thing.
