honor 8: Beautiful both inside and out

This post is brought to you by the honor 8

It’s easy to make a premium flagship smartphone. Just slap some quality materials like glass or metal together and hope they stick. But to make a beautiful smartphone, it takes a little more finesse and a whole lot more attention to detail.

That’s exactly what honor has been doing with their brand new flagship handset, the honor 8, and the results are absolutely stunning.

The honor 8’s primary construction is made up of something the company calls Aurora glass, which is a 15-layer composite fused together with exquisite craftsmanship alongside a 3D grafting effect. The result is an absolutely stunning design that looks incredible.

Things get even better when sunlight touches the surface of the honor 8 because the beams glint and shimmer across the back of the handset unlike any other smartphone. It’s absolutely mesmerising to look at, but that’s not all that is beautiful about the honor 8.

The device also has a beautiful Full HD 5.2-inch display that comes with a whole bunch of awesome screen tech to give you an excellent viewing experience.

First up, it’s got a 96% wide colour gamut display so it has the capability to display a wider range of colours. What’s more, it also comes with colour enhancement technology and pixel-level dynamic contrast adjustment to bring what’s on your screen, alive.

Then you’ve got the fact that the smartphone comes in at a cool 5.2-inches with super narrow bezels that look pretty darn cool and is not too big nor is it too small. This size also makes it easier to watch videos on because larger phones will hurt more when they eventually slip out of your hand and hit you in the face.

Speaking of watching videos while lying down, the honor 8 also has a bluelight filter built-in that can be toggled one the touch of your finger. When this mode comes on, the feature filters out harmful blue light that can cause eye strain as well as harm the light-sensitive cells in your retina, putting less strain on your eyes when you watch content.

But watching content isn’t the only thing the honor 8 excels at. This handset also packs a flagship-level Kirin 950 processor mated to 4GB of RAM so you have incredibly smooth performance even during the most intensive tasks.

It even has good battery life from its 3,000 mAh battery. Furthermore, the handset has support for fast charging via a USB Type-C port and the bundled 9V2A charger. So if you do happen to find your battery running low, just hook it up to a power source for 30 minutes and you’ll have about half your battery charge back.

Finally, we arrive at the coup de grâce — the dual 12-megapixel f/2.2 cameras on the back. This dual-camera setup is unique because the two sensors are not identical. Instead, you have one monochrome sensor, which is more sensitive to light information, and colour sensor. Both of these sensors work together, taking data from each other to form truly breathtaking images.

What’s more, when you take the honor 8’s competitive pricing of RM1,699 for the 32GB variant and RM1,899 for the 64GB variant, you realise that the honor 8 is also a smartphone that you can afford. All that beauty, all that power and all that imaging prowess for a price tag of below RM1,900? Now that’s a pretty sweet deal.
