With Android Nougat going official very soon, we can expect a new range of Nexus devices to follow as well. Last year we had the larger Nexus 6P by Huawei, while the Nexus 5X is the compact version that’s made by LG.
For 2016, there will be two Nexus devices codenamed Sailfish and Marlin which are said to be produced by HTC. Thanks to @evleaks, we now have more information for one of the models from a build.prop dump. These are often lines of configuration codes that could give us some clues on the hardware.
The HTC Sailfish S1 apparently is the smaller Nexus with a 5.2″ screen that comes with a pixel density of 420ppi. That points towards a full HD resolution, similar to the current LG Nexus 5X. Powering the device is a Snapdragon 820 processor (MSM8996 listed) which is top notch right now.
Details of its larger Marlin are still sketchy at the moment. As a replacement for the Nexus 6P, it is likely to retain a Quad HD display and probably a higher-end Snapdragon 821 processor with 4GB of RAM. Looking at the premium build of the HTC One A9 and HTC 10, we can’t wait to see what HTC has to offer for this year’s pure Android devices.
The Nexus 6P/5X were announced in late September last year and now you can pick a Nexus device up from as low as RM1,199.
