Dell is going big with the world’s first 17-inch 2-in-1

Dell has pulled the covers off their latest line of Inspiron products which include a whole host of new 2-in-1s across their Inspiron 3000, 5000 and 7000 range, plus two brand new Inspiron 5000 laptops. Among the devices is the world’s first 17-inch 2-in-1 device, the Inspiron 17-inch 7000 2-in-1.

Inspiron 7000 series 2-in-1

Kicking things off, we have the brand new line of Inspiron 7000 2-in-1s. These can be considered as Dell’s premium series in the Inspiron lineup and it comes in three sizes — 13-inch, 15-inch and the world’s first 17-incher. Inside, these devices will be powered by 6th Gen Intel Core processors that are designed to help you whizz through daily tasks without a hitch. The 360-degree hinge gives users four modes for more versatility

The 360-degree hinge gives users four modes for more versatility. What’s more, the new Inspiron 7000 2-in-1s come with FHD displays, backlit keyboards and an infrared camera as standard. The devices will also come with a precision touchpad that has gesture recognition, Waves MaxxAudio Pro audio software enhancements and 802.11ac WiFi connectivity.

Keeping with the times, Dell has included a USB Type-C port on their latest Inspiron 7000 2-in-1s alongside a pair of USB Type-A ports, an SD card reader and an HDMI port.

If you need more, you can make use of Dell’s optional USB Type C adapter which has ports for HDMI, VGA, Ethernet and a USB 3.0 port. You can also use Dell’s Power Companions which connects to the device via the USB Type-C port and can give it up to 6 hours of extra battery time.

The Inspiron 7000 2-in-1s will go on sale beginning the 2nd of June with prices starting from USD749 (around RM3,100) in China and the United States. There is no information on local availability yet.

Inspiron 5000 2-in-1 & laptops

Alongside the star Inspiron 7000 2-in-1s, Dell has also announced a pair of new Inspiron 5000 2-in-1s and laptops.

The Inspiron 5000 2-in-1 will come in two sizes — 13 and 15 inches. Both will come with wide-angle Full HD displays, a backlit keyboard and an infrared camera for easy access via Windows Hello. The 2-in-1s will feature an SSD for safer, faster and less power intensive storage plus a True-Life LED-Backlit Touch Display and up to 16GB of dual-channel DDR4 memory.

If a 360-degree hinge isn’t your thing, Dell’s Inspiron 5000 laptops could be more up your alley. They come in 15-inch and 17-inch variants that feature bright and vibrant colours and designs.

Its display comes in at a Full HD resolution and some models will come with an infrared camera and an optical DVD drive (and optional Blu-ray writer). Speaking of colours, these laptops will come with a glossy finish in several colours including Midnight Blue, Bali Blue and Tango red.

The Inspiron 5000 2-in-1s are will be available beginning the 2nd of June with prices starting from USD529 (around RM2,200) in China and the United States. The Inspiron 5000 laptops, on the other hand, are said to be available globally later this year.

Inspiron 3000 2-in-1

Rounding up Dell’s announcement is the entry-level 11-inch Inspiron 3000 2-in-1. Being the lower-end device, it does make some sacrifices compared to those above it in the hierarchy. First, it comes with an HD display (1366×768), though since it’s considerably smaller, it should still be pretty crisp.

Inside, it will also get the latest processors from Intel that should get you through web browsing, word processing and light video editing with ease. The 11-inch device will be priced at USD249 (around RM1,030) and will also go on sale starting the 2nd of June in China and the United states.
