Marking the fourth generation Microsoft’s brainchild has come a long way, from their original Surface Pro that ran Windows 8 upon its revealing. A leap forward for all laptops/tablets for sure, the ultra-productivity machine is back again and it’ll hit Malaysia just in the time for the year-end shopping season.
You can expect to see the Surface Pro 4 on Malaysians shelves by the 19th of November, leaving a lot of time to test it out before deciding to purchase it as a gift, possibly during the December gift-giving season – that’s if you have 4 figures to spare on the device that is priced from US$ 899 (RM 3,790). The aforementioned price is just an indication of how much you’ll be dishing out for the 2-in-1 convertible.
Below we’ve listed the prices of the OLD Surface Pro 3 (at the time the USD to MYR exchange rate was 3.147)
Core i3, 4GB RAM + 64GB Storage – RM2,729
Core i5, 4GB RAM + 128GB Storage – RM3,299
Core i5, 8GB RAM + 256GB Storage – RM4,199
Core i7, 8GB RAM + 256GB Storage – RM4,999
Core i7, 8GB RAM + 512GB Storage – RM6,779
Compare that to their US prices today:
Intel Core M / 4GB RAM / 128GB Storage – US$ 899 (RM 3,786)

Intel Core i7 / 8GB RAM / 256GB Storage – US$ 1,599 (RM 6,750)
Intel Core i7 / 16GB RAM / 256GB Storage – US$ 1,799 (RM 7,595)
Intel Core i7 / 16GB RAM / 512GB Storage – US$ 2,199 (RM 9,284)
Intel Core i7 / 16GB RAM / 1TB Storage – US$ 2,699 (RM 11,395)
Microsoft Surface Pro 4 Type Cover – US$ 129.99 (RM 549)
We hope that the Ringgit trades higher in the coming month so your devices will be cheaper. Obviously there will still be people buying these devices at their current prices, but one can only hope for the best.
Multitasking, productivity and portability are just some of the Surface Pro 4’s main advantages, and powerful enough to be the “Tablet that can replace your laptop”, many have already put their bets on the recently released device.
From the well-phrased tweet above, you’ll see that Microsoft’s twitter account officially mentions the release date proving that Malaysia isn’t always the last in receiving devices, with only a 6-week wait beckoning.
The same account @marauderz asked about the Surface Book too but received a lesser informative reply, stating that the bigger device will begin its release in US, Canada and Australia; in that order, followed by a roll-out in other countries (no indicative date set).
At least Microsoft Malaysia has put up a page for the Surface Pro 4 on its website, keeping us a little happier. We’ll be sure to update everyone if any other news surfaces about the…….. Surface(s).
