The much anticipated smartwatch – Samsung Gear A (Orbis) has been somewhat a more traditional approach in the round watch-face segment, pleasing the more conservative market that strays away from the rectangular faces that Samsung has already released.
It has been confirmed that the Gear A will utilise a crown-shaped power button and a bezel ring that rotates for on-screen navigation. The news surfaces from Samsung’s Tizen Developer Summit 2015 held in Bangalore, India. Surely the bezel ring addition will be more than welcomed as often times, watches’ small displays don’t play well with larger human extremities when using touch-screen navigation.
Also, awhile back Samsung confirmed various specifications of the new smartwatch through a company software development kit (SDK) for developers. The first round-face device from the Korean powerhouse will cram an Exynos 3472 dual-core processor running at 1.2 GHz, 768 MB of RAM, 4GB of on board storage, and a 250 mAh battery underneath the glass display.
Considering Samsung’s scheduled Galaxy Note 5 event on the 13th of August is not long off, all we can do is count down the days to see if Samsung can successfully compete with the Moto 360 and the LG Urbane.
