Maxis to offer the OnePlus 2 in Malaysia soon

Hot on the heels of the official OnePlus 2 announcement today, Maxis has released a tweet teasing that they might be bringing in the device sooner than we think. The telco also is the sole retail channel for the OnePlus One in Malaysia and this doesn’t surprise us one bit.

To recap on the specs of the OnePlus 2, it has a similar 5.5 inch screen with Full HD 1080p resolution as the OnePlus One with an improved IPS display with better contrast and colours. Under the hood is the latest Qualcomm octa-core Snapdragon 810 v2.1 processor mated to a top of the line 4GB LD-DDR4 RAM, which should make it quite a monster in the performance department. In terms of storage you get to choose between 16GB or 64GB flavours, but neither versions are expandable via microSD.  It will also have nano dual-SIM support with 4G LTE for zippy surfing.

As for the camera, you will get a 13 megapixel f/2.0 rear snapper with laser focus and Optical Image Stabilisation as well as a 5 megapixel selfie cam up front. Last but not least, the device will have a 3,300mAh battery keeping everything juiced by way of a reversible USB Type C port.

The OnePlus 2 is priced at US$329 for the 16GB model and US$389 for the 64GB version, which is roughly RM1,256 and RM1,485 respectively in our current exchange rate. It’s very likely Maxis will have a plan to go with the phone, but the big question is how soon will we be getting it?
