It looks like the guys at Samsung isn’t reducing the number of smart phone models anytime soon. The Galaxy A series will be getting a new model soon in the form of the Galaxy A8. While the new number represents a bigger screen, the new Galaxy A8 also gets a fresher design inspired by its current Galaxy S6 flagship.
Normally you would expect some leakster or informant to drop more photos before its official announcement but this time the Galaxy A8 gets a full hands-on video by TENNA. That’s right, the official certification body for China has given the Galaxy A8 a full reveal in a hands-on video.
From what we can see, the Galaxy A8 shares a lot of similarities in design as the S6 especially at the front and its metal frames around the sides. The back however gets a similar matte surface like its other A series siblings. As expected, the display is a larger 5.7″ Super AMOLED unit that pushes a full HD resolution of 1920×1080 and underneath it gets an Octa-Core Snapdragon 615 processor with 2GB RAM and 16GB of storage, similar to its Galaxy A7 brother.
In terms of camera, it gets a 16MP shooter at the rear which is a bump from the standard 13MP camera on the current A5 and A7, while the front maintains a similar 5MP selfie cam. With a bigger screen, the Galaxy A8 gets a 3,050mAh capacity battery, which is appropriate for a device at this size. Dimension wise, the Galaxy A8 boast a rather thin 5.94mm side profile, making this the thinnest smart phone Samsung has produced since the Galaxy A7 (6.3mm). Looks like we’ve seen enough and we just need to wait for Samsung to announce its official availability.
