OPPO Malaysia is launching its R7 series on 07/07

OPPO Malaysia has officially sent out invites for its OPPO R7 smart phone launch, which is happening on an auspicious double 7 date. Following the release of its former super-thin OPPO R5, the new R7 series offers better specs with larger storage and battery capacity.

It was announced last month with 2 models – the 5″ OPPO R7 and a larger 6″ OPPO R7 Plus. Both are having Full HD resolution displays and they run on a mid-tier Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 Octa-Core processor that’s mated to 3GB of RAM.

Going into specifics, the R7 gets 16GB of storage and it is expandable with microSD using its 2nd slot of its dual-SIM tray. It gets an 8MP front camera with beautification features while the back has a 13MP shooter with Samsung’s ISOCELL CMOS which boast faster focus with its Phase Detection AF feature. In terms of battery, the R7 has a non-removable 2,320mAh capacity unit and it weighs 147g with a thickness of 6.3mm.

For those wanting a phablet without the bulk, the R7 Plus offers a larger 6.0″ display and it gets double the storage at 32GB. While the front camera gets the same 8MP shooter, the back uses a Sony 13MP IMX278 4-colour RGBW sensor, which is also found on the Huawei P8. It also gets dual-tone LED flash light and underneath it has a fingerprint scanner as well. Battery life on the OPPO R7 Plus shouldn’t be much of an issue with a mammoth sized 4,100mAh capacity battery.

Based on earlier speculation, OPPO might be releasing an R7 Lite in Malaysia which hasn’t been announced globally. Could we be getting 3 models in Malaysia? From their recent SIRIM listing, it looks like we are getting just two and we’ll find out for sure next month. You can read more about the R7 series in our announcement post.
