Sony Mobile has launched 3 new devices for the Malaysian market which consists of 2 phones – the selfie-centric Xperia C4 Dual and a mid-range waterproof Xperia M4 Aqua Dual smart phone. The Xperia M4 Aqua will be available starting next week at RM969 while the Xperia C4 Dual will be released in July with pricing to be advised later. Also announced for Malaysia is their Xperia Z4 flagship tablet which runs on the top of the line Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor. The Xperia Z4 Tablet with 4G LTE connectivity is priced at RM2,699 and RM3,199 with its accompanying bluetooth keyboard.
The Xperia Z4 Tablet and Xperia M4 Aqua are water and dust resistant with the highest IP68 rating. This allows it to be submerged in water up to 1.5 deep and up to 30 minutes. Being the latest waterproof devices from Sony, both devices come with a cap-less micro USB port design for a hassle free charging experience.
The Xperia Z4 Tablet is thinner than the previous Xperia Z4 Tablet at 6.1mm and it comes with a full sized 10.1″ IPS display that does a 2K resolution of 2560×1600. It is powered by a 2GHz 64-bit Octa-Core Snapdragon 810 processor with 3GB of RAM and it runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box.
There’s 32GB of on-board storage which is expandable with microSD up to 128GB. It also gets an 8.1MP main camera and front facing 5.1MP snapper as well as a large 6,000mAh battery.
For a full productivity mode, there’s a Bluetooth keyboard which you can pair via NFC. With slot-in hinges, the keyboard turns the Xperia Z4 Tablet into a laptop mode and it comes with a trackpad as well. The Xperia Z4 Tablet with 4G LTE is available in black and white and it goes on sale starting 22nd June 2015.
The Xperia M4 Aqua is their improved mid-range waterproof smart phone that comes with a larger 5.0″ HD 720p display, 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 Octa-Core processor, 2GB RAM and 8GB of storage that’s also expandable via microSD. It supports dual-SIMS in 3G HSPA+ connectivity and it comes with 13MP main + 5MP front cameras.
Like the Xperia Z4 Tablet and Xperia Z3+, the microUSB port is exposed but it still waterproof with IP68 rating. Keeping the lights on is a 2,400mAh capacity battery which Sony claims to last up to 2 days on average use. It is available in Black, White and Coral colours starting next week.
Meanwhile the Xperia C4 is the successor of its Xperia C3 smart phone with a 5.5″ Full HD 1080p display and it runs on a 1.7GHz 64-bit MediaTek MTK6752 processor mated to 2GB RAM and 16GB of expandable storage. For imaging it gets 13MP main camera while selfies are handled by a 5MP shooter that comes with an additional soft flash light at the front. It also supports 4G LTE and the battery is slightly bigger too at 2,600mAh.
Being a selfie centric device, the Xperia C4 gets a couple of camera tricks including AR Mask where it overlays your face with a custom human or animal face. For Malaysia we are getting a dual-SIM variant with 4G LTE and its pricing will be announced later closer to its launch next month. In terms of colours, the Xperia C4 Dual will be available in Black, White and vibrant mint.
