UPDATE: Turns out that this is price drop for its Mi 4 (not to be confused with Mi 4i) in India.

Out of a blue Xiaomi will be making an announcement in India at 12PM tomorrow (2.30PM Malaysia) and it gets a teaser showing a pair of pants being dropped on the floor. While it looks like someone doing a number 2 in the loo, it could be a price slash of an existing product.

We are guessing that this could be a price revision for its current smart phones like the Redmi Note 4G, Redmi 2, Mi 4 or even the latest Mi 4i. It might be a long shot, but this could be a price slash of the Mi 4i to make it even more competitive against other sub-RM800 smart phones. Alternatively they might be dropping a new product like the Mi Note but that makes the image above very inappropriate for a teaser.

UPDATE: Xiaomi India slashes Rs 4,000 for its Mi 4 64GB smart phone.

Turns out that this is a price drop for its flagship Mi 4 (not Mi 4i). The Mi 4 with a Snapdragon 801 processor and 3GB of RAM is initially priced at Rs. 23,999 (about RM1,402) for the 64GB storage version. Now it has been slashed to just Rs. 19,999 (about RM1,169). Meanwhile its 16GB version is still priced at Rs. 17,999 (about RM1,052).

If you’re looking for the Mi 4 in Malaysia, it is currently sold officially via a local distributor. However it is the 3G only version (non-LTE) and priced at a rather hefty RM1,199 with just 16GB of storage.
