Microsoft has just introduced a couple of new affordable Windows Phone devices in Malaysia. Leading the pack is their Lumia 640 and 640 XL which is their first offering with dual-SIM and 4G LTE. The Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL were announced during MWC 2015 and they are priced at RM739 (4G Dual-SIM) and RM929 (3G Dual-SIM) respectively. Both will be available in Malaysia starting this Friday 17th April. The 4G Dual-SIM version of Lumia 640 XL is said to be released later through telcos.
In terms of specs, both Lumia 640 and 640 XL has a Quad-Core 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 processor, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of on-board storage that’s expandable with microSD. The Lumia 640 gets a 5″ HD 720p screen, 8MP main + 1MP front cameras and a 2,500mAh battery. Meanwhile its bigger Lumia 640 XL gets 5.7″ HD 720p screen, 13MP + 5MP camera combo and a larger 3,000mAh capacity battery.
For first time users, the Windows Phone platform is now more accessible than ever with the Lumia 430. Priced at RM319, this is their most affordable Windows Phone device and it comes with Dual-SIM 3G connectivity. The front has a basic 4″ 800×480 display and an entry level 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon 200 processor that’s mated to 1GB RAM and 8GB of expandable storage. Imaging is rather low rate affair with a main 2MP camera and a basic VGA shooter for the front. The only difference with the Lumia 435 is the battery where it gets a smaller 1,500mAh capacity battery. The Lumia 430 will be available in Malaysia by end of April.
At the moment, the Lumia 430, 640 and 640 XL are running on Windows 8.1 and Microsoft says that they will be upgraded to Windows 10 for free at mid-year.
