Samsung’s round Gear A smartwatch to have 3G and call support

No, we don’t have a real image of it yet, but Samsung’s first round smartwatch codenamed the Orbis has been confirmed to launch as the Samsung Gear A and is likely to be Samsung’s most premium smartwatch offering yet.

The Gear A will have two variants available, with one sporting standard Bluetooth connectivity and another one with 3G and calling support, with both models likely to have WiFi support as well. It’s a pretty smart move on Samsung’s part as the 3G model is likely to be more expensive than it’s simpler counterpart. The two main model numbers are SM-R720 and SM-R730, with the R730 likely the one with 3G support.

It’s pretty obvious that they are trying to take the Apple Watch to task on this one, and with the Apple Watch nearing release date, Samsung really needs to up the ante.
