Samsung tries to allay Galaxy S6 durability fears with their own bend test

The recent Galaxy S6 edge bend test by Square Trade didn’t go down well with Samsung over the weekend. To assure that its latest Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge are strong enough to withstand normal day to day abuses, they have responded with a statement and an official video.

According to Samsung, the test conducted by Square Trade puts excessive amount of pressure on a single point that’s beyond the normal case scenario. They added that the usual force if a person presses on the back pocket is about 66 pounds (30kg). This is subtly referring to the iPhone 6 Plus which was reported to have bent in pockets.

In the video, Samsung have tested both the S6 and S6 edge with 79 pounds (32kg) of pressure which is equivalent to the force of snapping 5 pencils once go. Surprisingly, Samsung has urged Square Trade to retest again for both front and back sides of the device for a more accurate representation. Not sure how would that change anything as Square Trade kept applying pressure until its breaking point while Samsung stopped at its own 81 pounds limit. We are pretty sure the Galaxy S6 edge would eventually get bent under a pressure machine.

Watch the official bend test video after the break.
