After accidentally giving the slip about the new tablet and teasing it prior to MWC, the Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet is now official.

Sony unleashed a slew of give Z-series flagships in the last year alone, so it’s a little strange that they’ve totally forgone showing off a new flagship product but instead has brought in a new full sized tablet. This is the successor of the Xperia Z2 tablet, which was the brand’s last full sized tablet and it brings some upgrades with it.

The Xperia Z4 tablet has a 10.1 inch Quad HD IPS display (2560 x 1600) with a pixel density of 300ppi with Sony’s Triluminous tech and X-Reality Mobile engine which is a staple for their newer tablets. It will also house an octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor mated to 3GB RAM, a 8.1 megapixel ExmorRS rear camera and a 5.1 megapixel front snapper as well as a 6000mAh battery. In terms of storage it will have 32GB expandable memory and will be powered by Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box.

They’ve also managed to make it as slim as the iPad Air 2 at a extremely skinny 6.1mm as well as wee bit lighter as it’s now a good 50g lighter than it’s predecessor. There will also be an optional keyboard dock that will technically make the Z4 tablet into a notebook considering that the tablet comes bundled with Microsoft’s Android Office.

The Xperia Z4 Tablet doesn’t have a pricing yet but it will be available starting June this year.

We are in Barcelona for MWC 2015 so stay tuned for more information as it comes.
