Sony’s Xperia M4 Aqua has just gone official with little fanfare at MWC 2015.
While a leak did hit just before the official announcement, the actual device looks a little different from what was shown there but Sony definitely looks like it’s keeping close to it’s design roots.
The phone itself is has a 5.2 inch IPS display with a 720p resolution and it is running the new Snapdragon 615 64-bit chipset, 2GB RAM as well as 16GB expandable storage, 4G LTE, a 13 megapixel rear camera with LED flash as well as a 5 megapixel front shooter. It will also come with Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box and is powered by a healthy-sized 2,400mAh battery.
In a nutshell, the Xperia M4 Aqua is an IP68-certified device and it can take a dunking for up to 30 minutes at a time in 1.5m deep fresh water (saltwater is too corrosive, don’t say we didn’t warn you!) It also features a capless microUSB port which is a first for Sony in terms of their waterproof phones.
The Xperia M4 Aqua will hit the shelves for €299 (RM1212) globally in Spring with white, black, coral and silver colour variants.
We are in Barcelona for MWC 2015 so stay tuned for more information as it comes.
