The Samsung Galaxy S6 is probably the biggest anticipation at Barcelona and if you haven’t seen it yet, its exterior has been leaked in its full glory. Now more details have surfaced regarding its storage capacities and colour options.

In the previous Galaxy S series, they were announced with several storage options. However for us Malaysians, we often end up with the base 16GB model. Granted that you can expand it further with microSD, there are those who prefer more on-board storage to install more apps.

For the upcoming Galaxy S6, Samsung is said to be utilising a much faster Universal Flash Storage that’s capable of doing 19,000 input/output operations per second (IOPS). In simple terms, that’s 28X faster than conventional memory cards and 2.7X faster than eMMC 5.0 on-board memory that’s being used on most flagship smart phones today.

Overall, you can expect SSD-like performance with 50% less reduction in power consumption, which is probably what was teased in their second video. The new UFS embedded memory is available in 32GB, 64GB and 128GB, which means that the Galaxy S6 would be offered with a minimum of 32GB storage, similar to the Galaxy Note 4.

In terms of colours, a new leak suggests that the Galaxy S6 (SM-G920F) would come in Blue, Gold, White and Black colors, which are available in 32GB, 64GB and 128GB capacities. For the more upmarket Galaxy S6 Edge, the list is similar but there’s an extra green colour option. That’s probably would be its exclusive colour, similar to Sony Xperia’s iconic purple edition.

With the increase of storage, do expect price hike from the RM2,399 tag of the Galaxy S5. Similarly, the Galaxy Note 4 was priced at RM2,499 in Malaysia, which is RM100 more than the previous models.
