It seems Sony will be launching new devices at MWC this year, but with no press conference or grand unveiling as the big brands are usually expected to do. There will be no livestream or formal press event like in previous years though they will be having a exhibition booth as usual.

So far we’ve only seen one smartphone that’s expected to make a debut this year at MWC, namely the Sony Xperia E4 or the Xperia E1 II. which might currently be running by the codename Xperia E1 II . We also have some renders of what the Xperia E4 might look like, as well as some rumoured specifications of the E4 as well as a specifications listing for it  according to online mobile retailer PhoneHouse.es

But in terms of final design we can’t entirely be certain as the provided image from the retailer and the leaked renders are a little different in terms of button placement and some other minor details.

Xperia-E1-II1

The rumoured specifications for the Xperia E4 includes a 5-inch qHD (540×960) display, MediaTek MT6582 1.3GHz quad core processor mated to a Mali-400 MP4 GPU. It will also likely have 1GB RAM, 8GB storage, a 5MP rear cam and 1.9MP front camera.

The new phone mostly looks like a very minor update to it’s entry level predecessor the Xperia E1, with just an update to a MediaTek processor without much else. Hopefully we’ll find out more as the date draws closer.
