HTC’s Desire family just got a little bit bigger with the announcement of the Desire 626. This is yet another mid-range device with a standard 5″ HD 720p display and it runs on the newer Quad-Core 1.2GHz Snapdragon 410 processor with 1GB of RAM. Overall, this looks like a minor update over the Desire 620.
The main camera is updated with a 13MP f/2.2 BSI camera that supports Full HD 1080p videos while the front gets a selfie happy 5MP BSI camera. On-board it gets a decent 16GB on-board storage and there’s also a microSD slot that accepts up to 128GB. The front still retains HTC’s signature Boom Sound stereo speakers.
Keeping the lights on is a 2,000mAh capacity (slightly less than the Desire 620) and overall it weighs 140g with a thickness of 8.19mm. It also supports 4G LTE including our local Band 3/7 and they are also making the optional Dot View case available as well. Like the Desire 620, a MediaTek variant is said to be introduced as well for the Chinese market.
HTC appears to be going for the cheap and cheerful market with its latest range of Desire models. The Desire 620 with dual-SIM is currently priced at RM849 in Malaysia, while the Desire 620G that also supports dual-SIM is sold at RM699. Both models are similar in specs with a 5″ HD 720p display, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, 8MP main + 5MP front camera and 2,100mAh capacity battery. What sets them apart is the Desire 620 runs on Snapdragon 410 processor with 4G LTE while the Desire 620G uses MediaTek’s MT6592 Octa-Core processor that’s similar with the original Redmi Note.
