Samsung Galaxy Note Edge official Malaysian pricing revealed

Samsung Malaysia will be offering the Galaxy Note Edge in our Malaysian stores early next month. Ahead of its official release, the pricing of this flagship curved edged phablet has been revealed at RM2,999. This was spotted in one of their sales brochure and it comes in either Charcoal Black or Frost White.

So what do you get for an extra RM500 over its current Galaxy Note 4 (RRP: RM2,499)? For starters, the display is slightly smaller at 5.6″ compared to the 5.7″ on the Galaxy Note 4 but it pushes a higher 2560×1600 pixels resolution, inclusive of its extra 160 pixels display towards the right side. Processor wise, the Galaxy Note Edge runs on a 2.7GHz Quad-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor as opposed to the Octa-Core Exynos 5433 (4x Cortex A53 cores at 1.3GHz + 4x Cortex A57 cores at 1.9GHz) unit that’s powering the Galaxy Note 4 units in Malaysia.

The rest of the hardware are similar, offering 3GB RAM, 32GB of storage with microSD slot, fingerprint scanner, heart rate sensor, 16MP OIS camera and a front facing 3.7MP unit. If you’re wondering how good is the camera, you can check out this post to see its potential in the hands of a professional. Also not forgetting is its S-Pen with the host of sketching and multi-tasking features that sets the Note series apart from other flagship phablets. In terms of battery, the Note Edge is slightly smaller in capacity with a removable 3,000mAh unit as opposed to a slightly larger 3,220mAh capacity that’s found on the Galaxy Note 4. Side by side, the Galaxy Note Edge is slightly lighter (174g vs 176g), thinner (8.3mm vs 8.5mm) and shorter (151.3mm vs 153.5mm), but it is slightly wider (82.4mm vs 78.6mm) than the Note 4.

So what can the extra “Edge” display offer? By default, it is a notifications panel where alerts will be shown on the right side instead of the top. By default it is a shortcut panel which can display 7 items at a glance and you can add addition panes for information streaming such as Twitter trends, news, stock updates, weather, S-health and much more. While the screen is asleep, you can wake the edge display by simply swiping left to right repeatedly to have a glance on what you might have missed. At night, it can be a low powered Night Clock which can be enabled for a specific time.
