UPDATE: Xiaomi Malaysia also increases its minimum order amount to RM100 for free shipping.

With our weakening Malaysian Ringgit against foreign currencies, Xiaomi has announced a price increase of its popular Mi Power Banks. The Chinese Yuan used to be RM0.51 in the middle of last year but now it converts to RM0.58. Obviously the increase of conversion eats into Xiaomi’s low margin model.

Starting from 28th January, the Mi Power Banks will be priced as follows:
10,400mAh Mi Power Bank – RM36 RM49
5,200mAh Mi Power Bank – RM25 RM34

Even after the increase, the Mi Power Banks are still bang for the buck compared to its competition. Fortunately, there’s no increase for the rest of its products such as its smart phones, head phones and other accessories, for now. Their biggest 16,000mAh Power Bank appears to be unchanged, retaining its current RM79 price tag.

If you’ve been itching to buy something, Xiaomi Malaysia will have an open sale starting from 28th January 2015 and they will be restocking its Redmi Note 4G smart phone. Another pleasant news is that its accessories will be available separately as well and this includes its 16,000mAh Power Bank as well as its affordable Mi Band. Alternatively you can also buy the Redmi Note 4G from Lazada Malaysia on 27th January.

Shipping
There’s also a change with its free shipping arrangement. You would need to pay for delivery charge if your orders are less than RM100 for both East and West.
EAST Malaysia – RM 25 shipping fees for orders below RM 80 RM100
WEST Malaysia – RM 15 shipping fees for orders below RM 75 RM100
KLANG VALLEY – RM 15 shipping fees for orders below RM 70 RM100

Thanks @KevinNgTK and Adrekua for the tip.
