At CES 2015, Sony didn’t introduce a new smart wearable product but they have announced a stainless steel edition of its Android Wear powered Smart Watch 3. This gives it a sleek new styling that offers a classic premium look and feel. The SmartWatch 3 itself remains unchanged with a 1.6″ 320×320 LCD display and it is also waterproof with IP68 rating.
It is charged via micro USB and its 420mAh battery is rated to last up to 2 days. For music, it has 4GB of internal storage and it could playback your music directly to your bluetooth headset. Like the rest of Sony wearable devices, it tracks your daily activities with its Sony Lifelog app which recently has opened up its API for 3rd party developers. The SmartWatch 3 with its stainless steel band will be available starting from February 2015.
Apart from the Smart Watch 3, Sony has introduced a wide range of accessories for its SmartBand SWR10. As a fitness tracker that blends in with your current fashion, Sony has collaborated with the likes of Jack Vartanian, ALTEWAISAOME, Ted Baker and most recently, ROXY in releasing a wide range of bands. Sony believes that technology should be worn accordingly to suit different taste and personality. The same approach also applies on its SmartWatch 3 and SmartBand Talk, that comes with customisation option without having branding logos splattered all over.
