ASUS updates its 2-in-1 laptop series with two new entry-level Transfomers

Some of you might have outgrown the iPad and want to look for a slightly more serious device that’s capable of running desktop-class programs instead of just apps, there is now a range of entry-level computers created specifically for that need (slightly more powerful than a tablet but not a full-blown laptop, for that you can take a look at the ASUS Transformer Book T300 Chi). ASUS has just introduced two such device — the Transformer Book T100 Chi and the Transformer Book T90 Chi.

The T100 is a 10.1-inch device with a full HD (1920×1200) IPS touch panel. The device is powered by Intel’s Atom Z3775 BayTrail-T processor clocked at 1.46GHz. You get to choose between two variants, one with 1GB RAM and 32GB of storage or a 64GB version with 2GB RAM. Whichever variant you pick, the T100 gets a svelte 7.2mm thin chassis with a detachable keyboard. There’s also 2MP camera at the front and a 5MP camera with auto focus at the back.

The T90 is, in most respects, similar to the T100 aside from the smaller screen size, you get an 8.9-inch 1280×800 IPS touch panel instead of the 10.1 panel on the T100. Other than that, everything else is the same, that means the same Intel Atom processor, the same two variants and the same cameras front and back. The only other difference is that the T90 features an aluminium body with what ASUS calls “diamond-cut highlights”.

There’s no mention of pricing an availability in Malaysia but we don’t expect the T100 and T90 to to hit stores in Malaysia later than March 2015. The T100 Chi starts from US$399 (RM1,424) and the T90 Chi from US$299 (RM1,067).
