Xiaomi to release new Redmi 4G LTE smart phone with dual-SIM on 4th January

UPDATE: Purported new Redmi 1S with dual 4G LTE leaked.

UPDATE 2: Xiaomi Redmi 2 is now official. Priced under RM400.

Apart from its new flagship smart phone, Xiaomi is going to announce a new Redmi smart phone this coming Sunday on 4th January. According to GizChina, this would be the Dual 4G LTE Redmi 1S that has passed TENAA certification in China.

The device looks pretty much the same as the current Redmi 1S and it comes with a similar 4.7″ HD 720p display in front. It gets newer 64-bit 1.2GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 410 processor that’s still mated to 1GB of RAM and has 8GB of storage. The main camera is still an 8MP shooter but the front now gets a higher 2MP camera (Redmi 1S: 1.6MP). The battery has been upgraded as well from 2,000mAh to 2,200mAh in capacity.

Connectivity wise, the new Redmi model supports 4G LTE in both TDD and FDD-LTE bands and apparently it will support 4G on both SIM card slots. Hopefully they will add back-light for the 3 main capacitive buttons at the front which is lacking on the current Redmi 1S.
