Vivo’s super slim X5 Max leaked with a thickness of under 4mm

Vivo is eyeing to take away the thinnest smart phone title from the OPPO R5 with its upcoming X5 Max. In a leaked photo with a caliper ruler, the upcoming ultra-thin device is shown to be less than 4mm thick (purported to be 3.75mm), undercutting the OPPO R5 that was recently launched at 4.85mm. Earlier on, the X5 Max was said to be about half the thickness of an iPhone 5/5S, making it as thin as 3.8mm.

When it was spotted on TEENA’s database (China’s version of SIRIM), the X5 Max smart phone was declared with a thickness of 4.75mm. They could have marked up its dimensions during the certification similar to the OPPO R5 when it was certified with 5.5mm instead of its actual 4.85mm thickness.

Spec-wise, the X5 Max is listed with a 5.5″ Full HD screen and has a 1.7GHz Octa-Core MediaTek processor, 2GB RAM and a 13MP + 5MP camera combos. Suprisingly it appears that Vivo will be including a headphone jack which is pretty amazing for a device that’s barely thicker than the audio port’s 3.5mm size.

In their official teaser image, Vivo says they are able to make it impossibly thin by utilising a single sided motherboard that’s highly dense. For a slim obsessed device, you probably won’t expect much from its battery capacity.
