If you love taking selfies, the HTC Desire EYE which has 13MP cameras for both front and back is coming to Malaysia. This HTC selfie-centric smart phone was announced last month and it has just dropped by in our local SIRIM database.

Unlike the earlier HTC Desire models, the Desire EYE is quite a high-spec smart phone with a 2.3GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 801 processor that’s accompanied with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. It also gets a microSD expansion slot, 4G LTE, NFC and WiFi 802.11ac. In addition, the Desire EYE also boasts water resistance with IPX7 rating that can withstand being submerged up to 1 metre deep for 30 minutes. Powering the device however, is a lower 2,400mAh capacity battery, which is slightly better than the PadFone S.

The biggest highlight of course is its camera. The back gets a f/2.0 13MP shooter which supports Full HD 1080p videos and it is assisted by a dual-tone LED flash. It is the same story at the front but it gets a wider 20mm lens and has a aperture of f/2.2. On the software side of things, the Desire EYE comes with its EYE camera experience which packs a number of new camera features for HTC.

This includes an auto selfie mode which knows when the capture without you trying to reach out for the shutter button. There’s also a new split capture that utilises both front and back cameras to take the shot. There are other new fun tools as well and there’s one that crops your selfie shot taken from the front and you can super impose it to the view taken with the main camera.

Thanks @chinseng85 for the heads up.
