OnePlus One to be available officially in Malaysia by year end

OnePlus, a new rebel brand that claims to be a 2014 flagship killer will be officially available in Malaysia by end of this year. Its Head of South East Asia Business Development, CP Lim had shared this during OnePlus’s first official fan gathering in Malaysia.

With just a couple of weeks left for 2014, OnePlus One pre-orders could start any moment now especially when it has already passed local SIRIM certification. Internationally it is priced at US$299 (about RM1,000) for 16GB and US$349 (about RM1,168) for the bigger 64GB version. To date, they have sold over 500,000 units and they are aiming to hit 1 million before the year is out.

To recap on the specs, the One (not be to confused with HTC One) features a 5.5″ Full HD 1080p display and it runs on a 2.5GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 801 processor with 3GB of RAM. The back gets a 13MP Sony IMX214 camera with 6 element f/2.0 lens while selfie shots are handled by its 5MP front camera. While the specs are similar with the OPPO Find 7 (sans Quad HD display), the battery isn’t replaceable but it gets a slightly larger 3,100mAh capacity battery. Overall it is 8.9mm thick and weighs 162 grams. You can check out the comparison of OnePlus One against the current flagship smart phones including the Nexus 6 and Galaxy Note 4 over here.

It supports 4G LTE and currently runs on Android 4.4 KitKat with CyanogenMod. OnePlus has also shared that the One will be getting the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop update within 90 days of its official release.
