UPDATE: Both iPad Air 2 (A1567) and iPad mini 3 (A1600) have passed SIRIM certification in Malaysia.
After the release of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in Malaysia, Apple’s latest range of tablets – iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 will be available very soon. The ultra-thin iPad Air 2 has been certified by our very own SIRIM but it is only for the WiFi version (A1566) for now. The rest of the models including their 4G Cellular version and the smaller iPad mini 3 are expected to join the list very soon.
The iPad Air 2 is quite an improvement not only in thickness but also in the internal hardware department. The 6.1mm thin tablet comes with a faster A8X chip that uses 3-cores and it is mated with 2GB of RAM. The benchmarks suggest that it is up to 55% faster than the iPhone 6. Despite having a smaller battery capacity (1,487mAh less), it still manages to maintain its same 10 hour battery life.
Meanwhile the iPad mini 3 is just a minor update of its exising iPad mini 2 (formerly known as iPad mini with Retina Display) as the only difference is the addition of Touch ID fingerprint scanner and a new gold colour option. The rest of the specs are the same including the same A7 processor and 7.9″ Retina Display.
