Last week OPPO had announced the R5 which is currently the thinnest smart phone at only 4.85mm thick. That title might be temporary as Chinese rival Vivo is expected to release an even thinner device that’s going to be called the X5 Max.
It has just gotten certified under China’s TEENA database, measuring just 4.75mm in thickness. That’s just 0.1mm slimmer than the OPPO R5. However it is worth noting that the final product could be even thinner as the OPPO R5 was originally certified at 5.5mm thick but turns out to be even slimmer during launch.
Its earlier teaser suggests that the new super-slim Vivo could be less than 4mm thick as it was shown to be half the thickness of an iPhone 5/5S (7.6mm). This leads to speculation that it could be as slim as 3.8mm, which is similar as stacking 2x new 50 sen coins together.
In terms of specs, the Vivo X5 Max will feature a larger 5.5″ Full HD display and it will be running on a 1.7GHz Octa-Core processor with 2GB of RAM. It also comes with a 13MP main camera and a front facing 5MP unit. There’s no mention of its battery capacity and overall it weighs 146 grams, which is 9 grams lighter than the OPPO R5 that comes with a 2,000mAh capacity battery.
