You’ve seen the video and now it is time for a proper hands-on with IKEA’s new BookBook. As consumers these days are hooked to digital devices, the IKEA Bookbook promises a better experience with the clarity of 328 hi-definition pages on a 7.5″ x 8″ interface. We all know what big screen does to battery life but you’ve nothing to worry as the Bookbook promises eternal battery life 24/7 without the need to charge.
Performance is expected to be top notch as pages load instantly with no lag and you don’t even need high speed broadband connectivity. Since we are touching on connectivity, you can take this on flights and use it from gate to gate without needing to switch on airplane mode. Check out our pictorial unboxing and a closer look after the break.
The Bookbook that we got is pretty massive and it is much thicker and heavier than the 8mm and 400g specs mentioned in their video. We probably have gotten the Bookbook “Plus” edition as our courier consignment has written 2.3kg. The Bookbook is quite bulky at about 1.5cm thick.
As you can see, the Bookbook offers a larger viewing experience than the Samsung Galaxy NotePro 12.2. The only complaint is that its noticeably heavier but who cares if it lasts forever without needing to charge right? In case if you’re clueless of handling a book, there’s even a quick start up guide which you might probably need.
The Bookbook isn’t entirely static as they have added some augmented reality features as well. With the official IKEA Catalogue app (Android/iOS), you can preview IKEA’s furniture in your actual home. Just place the catalogue on your preferred spot and use the camera to view and manage your placement.
For more information, you can check out the IKEA Bookbook page. There’s a digital copy available for download on your own digital device.
