HTC Butterfly 2 is now available in Malaysia

UPDATE: HTC Butterfly 2 will be officially launched in Malaysia on 19th September.

The waterproof HTC Butterfly 2 with IP57 rating is now officially available in Malaysia. It follows the footsteps of its former Butterfly with a glossy polycarbonate body and underneath it shares very similar hardware with its current HTC One M8 and One E8 models.

Retailer DirectD is selling official units available in either red or white at RM2,299, while another retailer SatuGadgetDotCom is offering it at an even lower RM2,020.

To recap the specs, the HTC Butterfly 2 gets a 5″ Super Clear LCD 3 with Full HD resolution and it runs on a 2.5GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 801 processor with 2GB of RAM. For Malaysia we are getting the 16GB capacity version that’s expandable up to 128GB with microSD. For taking pictures, the Butterfly 2 appears to be a cross breed between their current One M8 and One E8 as it features a Duo Camera set up that shoots 13MP pictures and it is assisted with dual LED lights. Over at the front, it gets 5MP wide angle camera for selfies.

With a slightly larger 2,700mAh capacity battery (100mAh more than the One M8/One E8), it is bulkier at 151 grams with a thickness of 9.99mm. As retained is HTC’s signature Boom Sound Stereo speakers and audio further enhanced with JBL LiveStage. It uses Nano-SIM and 4G LTE connectivity comes as standard. With a lower price, this seems to be a better device than its flagship One M8 but only if you don’t mind having a plastic body instead of metal.
