Sony teases 3 new water resistant devices for IFA 2014

Sony Mobile will be making a big announcement at the upcoming IFA 2014 in Berlin on the 3rd of September. To drive anticipation, they had released a teaser video titled “The time to Demand Great is coming”. From the teaser, there’s a lot of things happening with the number 3 and right before it ends, it showed 3 devices for a split second.

We know that Sony is coming out with the Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact. The third device is likely to be a new compact 8″ tablet that could be called as the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact. A few days back, it was partially revealed on one of their campaign pages.

Watch the teaser video after the break.

According to GSMArena, looks like one of the devices could be rocking an ultra-thin 7mm body. The Xperia Z2 is currently 8.2mm thick while its full sized Xperia Z2 Tablet is thinner at 6.4mm.

The video also seem to suggest the new devices will have improved battery performance and possibly a fitness tracker. If we assume the “Cu” letters at the end of the video to mean copper (from the table of elements), it may be that Sony is introducing a new form of shatterproof glass that uses nano copper wires as reinforcements but this is just a guess for now.
