Samsung will be unveiling their next big thing next month with the Galaxy Note 4. For those love taking pictures, the folks over at Sammobile has managed to get a scoop on its imaging capability.

According to their sources, the Galaxy Note 4 will be packing a 16MP sensor from Sony (IMX240) and it is enhanced with optical image stabilisation. Like the current flagship devices, it is capable of shooting 4K videos at 30fps and Full HD resolution at 60fps. For taking photos, it takes a maximum of 16MP in 16:9 aspect ratio or 12MP in 4:3.

With the growing trend of taking selfies, Samsung is finally bumping up its front facing camera to a 3.7MP unit that takes a higher WQHD (2K) resolution videos at 2560×1440.

On top of its newer hardware, Samsung will be adding a couple of new features for its camera. If you prefer to have a dedicated camera shutter button, the Galaxy Note 4 is said to be having a Side Touch feature which is basically a soft touch sensor at the sides. So to take a shot, you can just tap on that area while the phone is in landscape mode.

To capture important moments quicker, Samsung is said to be implementing a screen gesture control where you can launch the camera by tapping 2 fingers and swiping that apart. This sounds similar to Oppo’s gesture control where you can launch camera from sleep by drawing a circle.

Touching on Selfies again, the Galaxy Note 4 will be adding more Selfie modes which includes a standard selfie mode, wide selfie and selfie alarm. Wide Selfie is likely to be similar with the Ascend P7‘s Paranoma Selfie mode while Selfie Alarm could be the same feature that’s found on the ASUS ZenFone.

Of course, Samsung will also carry over the current camera features from the Galaxy S5 such as selective focus, live HDR, dual camera and best face.
