Unannounced HTC Butterfly 2 gets certified in Malaysia

UPDATE: HTC Butterfly 2 is officially announced for the Asian market.

So we have the HTC One E8 which is the plastic version of its premium One M8 flagship. But what if you want the One E8 plus a Duo Camera set up that does a higher 13MP pixel count? If you are stuck in this conundrum, you can wait for the HTC Butterfly 2 which has just gotten certified in our local SIRIM database with the model number B810x.

The Butterfly 2 isn’t announced yet and it is seen as the international version of the J Butterfly that’s just released in Japan. Underneath, it gets the same hardware as the current One E8 and One M8 with a 5″ Super Clear LCD 3 display with Full HD resolution and it runs on a 2.5GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 801 processor with 2GB of RAM.

What’s new on the Japan version is a duo camera set up which consists of a 13MP + 2MP main cameras for higher details and selective focus functionality while the front gets a wide angle 5MP shooter. The Butterfly 2 seems to be water resistant as well from the recent leaks by @upleaks with IP57 rating which makes it submersible under 1 metre of water for 30 minutes. The battery too has gotten a bump from the usual 2,600mAh capacity (One E8/One M8) to 2,700mAh.

Since HTC no longer has Beats, the new Butterfly has gotten some help from JBL for its audio department and it also gets HTC’s signature Boom Sound front firing stereo speakers. It isn’t clear what features would be carried over from its Japan variant. Unlike the J Butterfly, we won’t be getting WiMAX support and the unit that’s heading to Malaysia only supports 4G LTE at 1800MHz and 2600MHz.

Thanks JJ for the tip!
