Plasticky phones are normally frown upon and that’s why more manufacturers are turning to metal for their premium smart phone. We’ve seen HTC going for a metal-clad body construction and Sony using metallic frame all round for a solid feel. Samsung which has been trying to shed its plasticky outlook is about to release a metal smart phone of their own with the new Samsung Galaxy Alpha which is now said to be announced next Monday, 4th of August.
The device will use metallic frames at the sides instead of the usual chrome-plated plastic. In terms of design, it is unmistakeably Samsung with its usual rectangular home button and a perforated back cover which made its debut on the Galaxy S5. The screen is said to be confirmed with a 4.8″ HD 720p unit, which makes it a mid-spec smart phone. There’s 32GB on-board storage which is non-expandable while the back is seen to have heart rate sensor as well. You can view the detailed leak shots over here.
With the Galaxy Note 4 launching on the following month in September, the Galaxy Alpha is expected to be a mid-tier model that’s positioned between the Galaxy S5 and the Galaxy S5 mini. All that matters now is the price. It is going to be tricky as they can’t be pricing this the same as the Galaxy S5 and anything lower would mean that it will face off other affordable flagship models that are mostly from China.
